Measure the rear leg height to the toe pad with your dog lying down, leaving a natural bend in the leg. The options below are exactly what you'll see in the dropdown above.

What's the difference between a quad and a rear wheelchair?

A rear wheelchair supports only the back legs and relies on a strong front end. A quad like this one supports all four corners, for dogs who are weak or unsteady at the front too. If only the back legs need help, the Large rear chair is the lighter, cheaper choice.

Can a wheelchair really support a giant breed?

Yes. This frame is rated for dogs up to 82kg (180lb), built from aircraft-grade aluminium and braced for big bodies. Great Danes, Mastiffs and Newfoundlands use Walkin' Wheels every day.

I already own a rear Walkin' Wheels. Do I need a whole quad?

No. The Large Front Wheel Attachment converts your existing rear chair into a full quad for a fraction of the price.

Is it suitable for dogs with an amputated front leg?

Yes. The quad design supports the shoulders where a limb is missing while letting your dog exercise their back legs as normal.

Can my dog go to the toilet while in the wheelchair?

How long can my dog stay in the wheelchair at a time?

Start with short, supervised sessions and build up gradually as your dog gains confidence and fitness, following your vet's guidance. The chair is for active time: take it off for rest and sleep.

What if I measure wrong or it doesn't fit?

Great product, gave my dear lab a new lease on life. He needed some steering and it wasn’t as stable as I expected. Can only use it on fairly even surfaces as when he hits a rut he gets upended! Don’t think it is safe for an energetic dog off road. Otherwise ok

‘Queen Bee’ the Sassy Boxer

This is Bonnie, our Boxer who’s 12 1/2 and has Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), which she’s had for almost 4 years now (it’s very rare for a dog to live that long with this disease). She is sassy as can be and loves people and other dogs. She is such a sweet, funny girl who makes friends wherever she goes. We get stopped all the time and people say what an angel she is. We’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old, and she is my best friend. Her nick name is Queen Bee. She likes to talk and is very vocal about what she wants.

Won’t Give up on this Lovebug

My sweet Belle came to us about 11 years ago, covered in fleas and ticks . . . There she was, just standing in our yard wanting to be loved. It was love at first sight. She is such a lovebug and needs human attention 24/7.
Fast forward 11 wonderful years later, at the ripe old-age of around (our veterinarian’s best guess) 12, she sadly suffered a stroke. For about a week, we were unsure if she was going to survive . . .
The stroke caused her to lose the use of her back legs (amongst other things), but we told ourselves we would never give up on her. So we decided to get her a Walkin’ Wheels dog wheelchair, and I am so thankful that we did. I believe the only reason Belle has the strength to walk today, is due to her being able to gain muscle strength by using her Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair.
