The Tavo Maeve is a first-class pet car seat built around the same engineering principles found in premium child car seats. A structured EPP foam carrier gives your pet a secure, familiar space that travels from home to car to stroller without skipping a beat. It comes two ways: with a dedicated ISOFIX vehicle base, or as the baseless Maeve iso with ISOFIX latches built straight into the carrier.

On the base models, the vehicle base uses Tavo's True lock™ installation system. Push the rigid ISOFIX connectors into the vehicle's anchor bars, deploy the stability leg, and two green indicators confirm everything is locked in under five seconds. An energy-absorbing load leg extends from the front of the base to the vehicle floor, and in the event of an impact the stability leg works to decrease rotation and reduce carrier movement.

The Maeve iso takes a different route to the same anchor points. Press one button and the integrated ISOFIX latches extend from the underside of the carrier and lock directly into the vehicle's rigid anchor bars. Press the same button to release and lift the carrier out. The latches stow away flat when they are not in use, so there is no base taking up a seat between journeys and nothing to move when you swap cars.

The carrier itself is built from lightweight yet durable EPP foam, which absorbs and disperses impact energy around your pet. The included Tailor tech™ memory foam Side Impact Protection guard clips securely onto the carrier frame to provide additional SIP coverage. MagneTech secure snap™ buckles fasten the structural canopy in a single motion and hold it open hands-free, while locking zippers prevent any escape attempts on the move.

At home, rubberized feet keep the carrier stable on hard floors, and the canopy can be removed entirely to create an open, cozy bed. Care & Maintenance
Liner and mattress cover sets are machine washable - zip off and wash as needed. Mattress pads wipe and rinse clean. EPP foam shell and canopy frame should be wiped with a damp cloth only - do not submerge. On the iso sizes, keep the latch housings free of grit and stow the latches away when the carrier is out of the car. Store leashes in the included bag when not in use to keep them tangle-free.

What is the difference between the Maeve with vehicle base and the Maeve iso?	Both are the same crash-tested EPP carrier with the same canopy, liners, SIP guard and Roscoe™ stroller compatibility. The difference is purely how they attach to the car. The base models (Small Flex, Medium Flex, Medium Rigid) come with an ISOFIX vehicle base that installs once and stays in the vehicle; the carrier then clicks on and off it. The iso models (iso5X and iso7X-L) have ISOFIX latches built into the carrier itself, so they lock straight into the anchor bars with no base at all. Pick the base if the seat lives in one car. Pick the iso if you move between cars or want nothing left behind.
What is the difference between the Flex and Rigid models?	All three base models share the same crash-tested EPP carrier, canopy, safety features and included ISOFIX vehicle base. The difference is the carry handle. The Small Flex and Medium Flex have a soft, flexible top-carry handle that folds down; the Medium Rigid has a firm, structured handle that stays upright for confident lifting. The two Medium variants have identical interior space; the Rigid simply sits a little taller overall (60.3 cm vs 53.3 cm) because of its fixed handle. On capacity, both Flex sizes carry pets up to 12 kg and the Medium Rigid up to 13.6 kg.
Do I need a vehicle base with the iso5X or iso7X-L?	No. The iso sizes are designed to fit without one. The integrated ISOFIX latches extend from the carrier at the press of a button and lock into the same rigid anchor bars a base would use. A base is not included with these sizes and is not required.
What does the L mean in iso7X-L?	The iso7X is the largest seat in the range and is built in side-specific versions, so the latches and shell are shaped for one side of the rear bench. The L version is specified by Tavo for installation on the vehicle's left side. If you are unsure which side suits your car and seating layout, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will check it with you.
Does the vehicle base fit all cars?	The Maeve vehicle base requires the vehicle to have rigid ISOFIX anchor bars. Most cars manufactured from 2003 onwards have these fitted as standard - check your vehicle handbook if unsure. The adjustable stability leg accommodates most seat depths. The same anchor bar requirement applies to the iso sizes, which use those bars directly.
Is the vehicle base compatible with all three base sizes?	Yes. One vehicle base is compatible with the Small Flex, Medium Flex and Medium Rigid, and it is included as standard with each of them. The iso sizes do not use a base.
Can I use a base model without its vehicle base?	The Small Flex, Medium Flex and Medium Rigid are designed to be used on the vehicle base for car travel. If you want a baseless fit, choose the iso5X or iso7X-L instead. If you simply need a second base for another car, the Tavo Maeve Vehicle Base is available as a separate purchase.
Does the Maeve iso work with the Roscoe stroller frame?	Yes. Both iso sizes click straight onto the Roscoe™ pet stroller frame (sold separately) using the same carrier release button as the base models, and no adaptor is needed. Tavo sell the iso and Roscoe together as a travel system for exactly this reason.
What does GREENGUARD Gold mean for my pet?	GREENGUARD Gold is an independent certification by UL that verifies products meet stringent chemical emission limits. It means the Maeve has been tested to create minimal indoor air pollution and reduce chemical exposure - a healthier environment for your pet.
Can the Maeve be used as a home bed?	Yes. The rubberized feet keep it stable on hard floors, and the canopy can be removed entirely for an open bed. Using the Maeve as a home bed helps build familiarity with the carrier, which can reduce anxiety during car journeys.
Why is the interior so much smaller than the outer dimensions?	That gap is the crash protection, and it is the same reason a child car seat is far bigger on the outside than it looks on the inside. A thick EPP energy-absorbing foam shell wraps the whole pod, measuring a consistent 5.7 cm on each side across the Small Flex, Medium Flex, Medium Rigid and iso5X. The iso7X-L steps up to 7.4 cm per side because it is rated for a heavier pet and needs to absorb more energy. The extra height on the outside is the structural canopy arc sitting above the pod. When you are choosing a size, measure your pet against the interior figures - the outer figures are only there so you can check the seat fits your car.
What size Maeve do I need?	Measure your pet from nose to tail base and make sure the interior length is comfortably longer. If you are between sizes, size up. As a guide: Small Flex and iso5X suit one small pet (up to 12 kg and 13.5 kg respectively), Medium Flex and Medium Rigid suit one medium pet (up to 12 kg and 13.6 kg), and the iso7X-L is the only option for larger pets at up to 18.1 kg. Worth knowing that the iso pods are 2.8 cm wider inside than the base models at 32 cm across, so a broader pet may be more comfortable in an iso even at the same weight.

If I change my mind, can I send it back, and who pays?

Yes. You have 14 days from the day your order arrives to tell us you would like to cancel, and another 14 days to send it back. That is your legal right on any online purchase, not something we have added. For change of mind orders, it is the buyer's responsibility to cover return postage, but we can arrange the postage for you for a small deduction from any refund. We will always confirm the figure in writing before you send anything back, and you are welcome to arrange your own return instead. We refund what you paid for the item, plus any standard delivery charge. Please send things back in a resaleable condition.
