Bicycle handlebar baskets are not designed to carry our fur babies, they are meant for groceries and bags. Imagine going for a ride in a carrier that continuously swings left and right 

Why platform supported?

If the basket is not platform-supported, the bottom sags, which creates a nauseous feeling. So, a sagging basket on the handlebars is a double whammy for nausea.

The cozy Cocoon is your small dog or cat's new urban retreat. The Cocoon can be attached to the front or rear of your bicycle as a bicycle basket, and once safely positioned on the Britch or rack adapter, your pet can have a front row seat for all of the adventuring that lies ahead. Or, take an afternoon road trip up a winding highway, which can be used as a car seat or even as an in-cabin airline carrier.

The bicycle connection of the carrier is unique as it is supported by a platform, which is necessary for any pooch over 8 lbs. Also, the Britch, as a bicycle frame extension, does not move with the handlebars, which ensures a stable ride.

The Cocoon comes in a regular 'XL' size only (the XXL size is now discontinued). Generally the XL version suits pets up to 14 lbs.

WHICH BIKE CONNECTION DO YOU NEED?

Please ensure you read this section before purchasing! 

The Cocoon needs a click-in receiver mounted on your bike to attach safely. The right one for you depends on one simple question:

OPTION 1: NO — My bike has no rack
→ Choose at checkout: Front or rear britch with basket adaptor

The Britch is a full rack system that creates its own mounting platform by clamping directly onto your bike's frame tubes - the seat tube for rear mounting, or the down tube for front. No existing rack required, no drilling, no axle fittings needed. It extends the bike frame and centralises the weight for safer, more balanced riding. Flip the platform to switch between front and rear. 

Works on: virtually any bike, with or without an existing rack.

BUT: Please be aware that some e-bikes with integrated down-tube batteries may not allow for a FRONT connection, but will allow for a rear connection. If you want to fit the Cocoon onto the front of your e-bike, please check with us first to make sure it will fit!

DOES YOUR BIKE ALREADY HAVE A FRONT OR REAR RACK FITTED?

OPTION 2: YES — My bike already has a rack

The Britch Lite is a compact metal adaptor that clamps onto your existing rack tubing and adds the Cocoon's proprietary click-in receiver. Your rack does the platform work — the Britch Lite simply gives the Cocoon somewhere to click in. Lower cost, quick to fit, easy to remove.

OPTION 3: I already own a Britch or Britch Lite
→ Choose: No Britch, basket only

Just the Cocoon with the basket adaptor plate pre-fitted to the base. Clicks straight onto any Britch or Britch Lite you already own, or allows you to use the Cocoon as a carrier or car seat only.

UNDERSTANDING THE SYSTEM — THREE PARTS, ONE CLICK

Part 1 — The Cocoon basket: The hard-shell carrier itself. A small metal basket adaptor plate is bolted to its underside — this is the "female" half of the connection. It comes pre-fitted on all versions.

Part 2 — The Britch or Britch Lite: The "male" receiver that stays mounted on your bike. The Britch clamps to bare frame tubes. The Britch Lite clamps to an existing rack. Both provide the same secure click-in platform for the Cocoon.

Part 3 — The connection: Slide the basket's adaptor plate over the Britch receiver and press down — it clicks firmly into place. To remove, press the release lever and lift. On and off in under 5 seconds.
