Gentle relief for stiff hips, and a helping hand to keep the adventures going.
The Balto Life (BT Life) is a hip support brace for dogs living with hip dysplasia, including the most severe degree (E), as well as hip arthrosis. Two firm discs, lined with a soft, high-density layer, apply gentle compression to both hips. That compression increases warmth in the area and helps ease the ache, and worn regularly it can make a real, day-to-day difference to your dog's comfort. It's a valuable option where surgery isn't possible or isn't the right path.

It also comes with two length-adjustable handles that clip onto the brace when you need them: a gentle, dignified way to help your dog up the stairs, in and out of the car, or over to their favourite spot by the water. When you don't need them, they unclip and tuck away.

Getting the size right
Most returns happen because of sizing, so please take a moment here - it's just one measurement.
1. Measure the upper thigh circumference, at the level of the groin. With a soft tape, measure around the top of the hind leg where it meets the body (see the diagram below).
2. Match it to the table below. Find your measurement in the circumference column and read across to the size.
3. Between two sizes? Message us with the measurement and your dog's weight and we'll confirm the right size before you order.
If your dog's measurement falls between two sizes, message us and we'll help you choose.

Helping your dog settle in
Give your dog up to two weeks to fully accept the brace. Start with around 30 minutes a day and build up by roughly 30 minutes each day, up to a maximum of about 12 hours, and take it off at night. Check the skin and fur in contact with the brace, keep both clean, and inspect the brace regularly for wear. Your vet can advise on how long to use it for your dog's condition.
