A modern, comfortable alternative to a rigid cast while a broken leg heals.
The Balto Bone (BT Bone) is a support brace for front-leg fractures, including breaks between the radius and ulna and between the radius and carpus. It's designed as an alternative to traditional splints and casts, giving the limb firm support and stability throughout the healing period your vet prescribes. Three rigid splints do the work: one fixed splint sits in a pocket along the centre back, and two side splints with Velcro backing can be positioned exactly where your dog needs them. The breathable fabric helps prevent the blisters and sores that sweating under a cast can cause, so it's comfortable enough for daily wear.

Key Features
- 🐾Three rigid splints - one fixed centre-back splint plus two repositionable side splints for tailored support
- 🐾Cast alternative - firm stabilisation for radius-ulna and radius-carpus fractures
- 🐾Breathable fabric - helps prevent the blisters and sores casts can cause
- 🐾Adjustable fit - secure strap closure that's easy to put on and take off
- 🐾Made for daily use - comfortable through the healing period
- 🐾Five sizes - hand washable (remove the splints first)
How it supports the leg
The three splints stabilise the fracture while the soft body of the brace keeps everything comfortable. Good to know: the brace is not designed to wrap all the way around the leg. The white-trimmed edges are not meant to meet, so a small gap is normal and correct, and you shouldn't size up because of it. The blue straps provide the closure and the splints provide the stability.

Getting the size right
Most returns happen because of sizing, so please take a moment here - the leg measurement is what matters most.
1. Measure the front leg length. With your dog standing, measure from the carpus (wrist) up to 2.5 cm below the elbow. This is the length shown in the diagram below.
2. Match it to the table. Find your measurement in the "Leg length" column and read across to the size. The weight column is an approximate guide only - always go by the leg length.
3. Between two sizes? Message us with the leg length and your dog's weight and we'll confirm the right size before you order.

Wearing it day to day
Wear the brace during the day, especially during activity, and remove it at night. During the settling-in period, try not to leave your dog alone for too long in case they try to remove it by biting or scratching. Always take the splints out before hand washing. Many vets suggest pairing the BT Bone with the Balto Joint carpal band on the healthy front leg, which helps your dog carry the extra load more comfortably while the fracture heals. Always follow your vet's guidance on how long to wear the brace.
