Travel-ready safety by air, sea or road, built to the standard airlines ask for.
The Henry Wag Air Kennel is a rigid travel crate designed to get your dog to their destination safely, whether that is in the hold of a plane, on a ferry or in the back of the car. It is built to meet international IATA standards for live-animal transport, with the metal door, secure fixings, all-round ventilation and external-access bowls that airlines look for. Choose from five sizes to fit dogs from a Cocker Spaniel up to a German Shepherd.
Built to fly: IATA-ready safety
Airlines that carry pets follow the IATA Live Animals Regulations, and the Air Kennel is engineered around those container requirements so your dog travels in a crate that meets the brief:
- 🐾Strong one-piece construction - a rigid moulded plastic shell with a rust-resistant, powder-coated steel mesh door
- 🐾Metal nut-and-bolt fixings - the top and bottom halves bolt together with metal hardware, as IATA requires (not plastic clips alone)
- 🐾Ventilation on all sides - openings around the kennel keep air flowing, with exterior spacer bars that stop the vents being blocked when stowed against other cargo
- 🐾Single-handed latch door - a secure, easy-to-operate locking door
- 🐾External-access food and water bowls - included, so handlers can feed and water without opening the door
- 🐾Live-animal labels and direction arrows - included to meet handling and labelling requirements
- 🐾Tie-down holes - to secure the kennel in a vehicle or aircraft hold
Choosing the right size
IATA sizing is based on your dog's measurements, not just their weight. Measure your dog and use the guide below: A nose to base of tail, B floor to elbow, C width at the shoulders, and D floor to the top of the head (or ear tips for erect-eared breeds). The kennel needs to be at least A + ½B long, C x 2 wide and D tall, so your dog can stand, turn and lie down in comfort.
Sizes & Dimensions
Just as at home in the car
It is not only for flying. The tie-down holes let you secure the kennel safely in the boot, the included bowls keep food and water within reach on long drives, and the moulded base contains the dirt and moisture of a muddy adventure. Strong carrying handles and simple nut-and-bolt assembly make it easy to set up and move, and it works equally well as a calm, den-like crate for training at home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it guaranteed to be accepted by my airline?
The Air Kennel is built to meet IATA container requirements, but every airline applies its own rules and final acceptance is always at their discretion. Always check your specific airline's requirements and book your pet's travel ahead of time.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure your dog and use the guide above. The kennel should be at least A + ½B long, twice the shoulder width, and tall enough for your dog to stand with headroom. If your dog is between sizes, size up.
Does it come with bowls and labels?
Yes. Two external-access bowls, live-animal labels and the fixing hardware are all included.
Is it hard to assemble?
No. The two halves join with metal nuts and bolts and it goes together in minutes, with carrying handles to move it once built.
